Ways to Contribute
|
Your collective contributions go a long way toward benefiting this school district and the community. Designate the Marion Independent School District Foundation and Alumni Association when you give to the United Way. As you know the Foundation’s mission is to "…provide broader educational service opportunities to its students, staff, faculty and the residents…" of Marion. Each year, the Foundation distributes thousands of dollars in scholarships, grants and other important endeavors on behalf of the MISD. The Foundation’s United Way number is 42-1343360 Many people want to be able to give to the charity of their choice, but are not financially able to do so, given their current financial obligations. What you don’t know is that there are so many ways to give that will NOT impact your current cash flow, but still allow you to contribute to organizations like the Marion Foundation and/or other charitable organizations. Please review the gift options below and contact the Foundation for additional information.
Living Trust Name the Foundation as the beneficiary of assets; you maintain control. Will Bequest Name the Foundation in your will; your donation is exempt from federal estate tax. Life Insurance Give a policy with Foundation as owner & beneficiary; current income tax deduction & possible future deductions. Retirement Plan Name Foundation as beneficiary of remainder of assets after your lifetime; avoid heavy tax on gifts to heirs. Real Estate Donate property to the Foundation, or sell to the Foundation at a bargain price; immediate income tax deduction and avoidance of capital gains tax. Charitable Remainder Unitrust Create a trust that pays a percentage of the trust’s assets [to the Foundation] annually; immediate income tax deduction and annual income for life that has potential to increase.
Charitable Lead Trust Create a trust that pays a fixed or variable income to the Foundation for a set term, then passes to heirs; reduces size of taxable estate & keeps property in family – often with reduced gift taxes. |
