Ways to Contribute
Gifts in any amount may be made at any time and will be allocated through the Marion Fund granting program or through the special funding process. Donations made through our annual fundraising events and campaigns such as “Spear-It of Influence” are also added to the Marion Fund. Contact the Foundation if you’d like to make an annual pledge and have the funds electronically transferred from your bank account on a monthly basis.
You may make a contribution to one of the Foundation’s many scholarship or enhancement funds, or designate your gift to an MISD group or project.
Endowed funds or scholarships can be established with an initial contribution of $7,500 or more. An average of 5% of the invested funds will be used annually to support students or programs. The fund can be established in your name, the name of your family or an organization, or to honor or memorialize another individual. If applicable, you may also set criteria for applicants and be involved in the selection of recipients. Endowed Funds can be established to support any number of programs within the District.
Designate the Marion Independent School Foundation when you give to the United Way. Your collective contributions go a long way toward benefiting the school district and the community.
Put a plan in place that will have a lasting impact on students in the Marion community. You may be surprised how easy it is, plus, many giving plans have income or estate tax benefits. Contact the Foundation or your financial advisor for more information on the options noted below.
Life Insurance or Retirement Plan Assets
Name the Foundation as the beneficiary of all or a portion of the assets. Simply complete a beneficiary-designation form, sign and return to the plan administrator.
Trusts and POD Plans
Living trust, charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder trust, charitable lead trust… There are a variety of trust and POD (pay-on-death) plans available which can provide a gift to the Foundation and a tax benefit to you or your estate. Your financial advisor can help you choose the plan that best fits your goals.
Name the Foundation in your will; your donation is exempt from federal estate tax.
Real Estate and Property
Make a donation to the Foundation of real estate or other property (automobiles, artwork, equipment). Your benefits can include an income tax deduction or circumvention of capital gains tax.
A gift of appreciated stock helps the Foundation and can have positive tax advantages for you.
