A collaborative team of parents and staff are led by MISD Social Worker Michelle Wilson to plan and deliver monthly family-engagement programs called FASTWORKS® (Families and Schools Together Works) at each of the four K-8 schools. Each session includes a free meal and an activity for children to enjoy with their parents and peers. Community resource information is also available.
FASTWORKS® is designed to:
- Unite families and schools to help students succeed;
- Empower parents, teachers, children and families;
- Enhance a sense of community; and
- Provide a network of knowledge, skills and understanding.
This free program is funded in partnership with GreenState Credit Union. Programs during the 2021-22 school year will be offered in-person in October, December, February and April and virtually in November, January and March.
