During spring of 2023 Longfellow Music Teacher Olivia Freesmeier submitted a funded Marion School Foundation grant to purchase a digital piano to replace their old broken one, supporting their vibrant elementary music program.
“The piano has made our daily songs and lessons rich with harmonic support, and the student are thrilled to get to sing and dance to it! The piano is an incredible gift, and a piece of integral curricular technology, that will last for years to come in Longfellow’s music room.”

The most important outcome of this project is that the Longfellow music room has a beautiful working piano that aids in daily music teaching practices!
This project was made possible with donations in memory of David Shindoll and by Irene & James Sauer.
The Marion Foundation’s grant program provides teachers an opportunity to receive funding for projects that benefit students in the Marion Independent School District. Grants are made possible because of generous contributions the Foundation receives throughout the year from both businesses and individuals as well as a number of educational funds that are invested with the Foundation for long-term benefit.
