Marion Grant Supports Robotics Club Upgrades

The Robotics Club received Marion Grant Funds in June 2020 allowing them to purchase updated electronics systems, connecting student members to the materials they need while they learn technical skills, creativity and teamwork.

This grant will ensure Marion Robotics has the best parts for making competitive robots. The robotics teams will continue to use the new equipment for additional robotics seasons. The team fundraises each year to replace worn out or broken parts. The quotes below from Robotics Club Members demonstrate the impact of this grant funding.  If you are a MISD staff interested in applying for a Marion Grant or would like to donate to make the grants program possible, visit our website to learn more.

“The new REV parts have helped the team immensely. The motors are so much easier to configure since they have the interchangeable planetary gearboxes. This allows us to modify our robot in a short amount of time. No more will we have to spend entire practice-changing stuff. Now we can change it and test it on the same day. The Control Hub allows us to not need a phone on the robot, so we have more space for other equipment. Another plus is that the new parts can fit together in so many ways that the possibilities are only limited to our imagination.  “– MHS Senior

“Thanks to the new rev system we received, we can further expand the capabilities of our robot. We have far fewer technological setbacks, which allow us to push through the engineering process and come up with new ideas and innovations. The rev system has opened a lot of doors for the team and has already helped us greatly.”  – MHS Sophomore
