Give an MISD Student the Gift of Literacy

Marion Independent School Foundation & Alumni Association and Friends of the Marion Library have teamed up to promote literacy this Giving Tuesday Now on May 5th, 2020.

Giving Tuesday Now is a new global day of giving and unity – in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

The pandemic has certainly revealed a need for books in the home. With no access to library services or a regular school schedule, it is important now more than ever to foster literacy.

The ways to give include donating to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, hosted by the Friends of the Marion Public Library. At no cost to the family, this program provides kids ages 0-5 with books mailed monthly to their home. (The School Foundation financially supported the launch of this program in Marion earlier this year.)

Another way to give is to purchase a book for a Marion student through our Amazon Wish List. Books will be collected in the month of May and given out on May 28th during Grab and Go Lunch at Vernon Middle School.
