Senior Honors Night is a special time for the Marion Independent School Foundation & Alumni Association. We had the pleasure of awarding more than $190,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors!
This included distributing the very first Marion High School Future Leaders Scholarships, which provide $10,000 each to two students who will be attending a state school in Iowa.
Created by an anonymous donor earlier this year, this fund is intended to help students start their future strong.
“Some of our scholarships have been around for thirty years, and some just started this year,” said Laura Farmer, Executive Director of the Marion Independent School Foundation & Alumni Association.
“All of our donors really believe in our students. They want them to know that their community is behind them and cheering them on, both while they’re here in the district, and while they’re pursuing their next adventure.”
The Foundation offers twenty-nine scholarships to students who are graduating from either Marion High School or the Marion Home School Assistance Program. Some scholarships are only for students pursuing certain fields of study or trades, while others are open to students following all academic pursuits.
Many of these scholarships are also renewable. In fact, the Foundation will give away over $100,000 in renewable awards to students, bringing the grand total of scholarship funds distributed this year to over $290,000!
The number of different scholarships – and the amount of money distributed annually – speaks to the deep-rooted investment of the local community in the Marion district.
We are so proud of the class of 2026. Congratulations!
