Helpers with MISD Connections Provide Support after Disaster

The Marion Independent School Foundation & Alumni Association thanks MISD students, alumni, staff and friends who have provided support to the Marion area after a devastating derecho tore through the state on August 10th.

Iowans are coming together during this difficult time to help those with volunteer, food, housing and supply needs. We have seen those with Marion Independent School District connections do some amazing things to help their community including:

  • MISD Football and Volleyball teams who cleared debris at the Granger House.
  • MISD Alumni Shane Bonebreak who brought supplies and donations from Georgia to support his hometown.
  • MISD Alumni Madeline Godar and coworkers at Iowa Lutheran Family Medicine Residency in Des Moines who donated money and brought supplies.

These are just a few of the amazing stories we have to share about people helping people during this difficult time. Thank you to everyone who is making a difference.
