Trout Memorial to Support the Trades

Marion High School Alum, community leader, and school board member Dennis Trout ’66 unexpectedly passed away on February 15.  To carry on the legacy of Dennis ‘Barney’ Trout, the family has created a memorial fund to establish a scholarship to graduating high school students who plan to seek an apprenticeship through the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters UA Local 125.

Providing trade school opportunities for students was important to Barney. His kindness and generosity will be remembered by many, as well as his passion for the Marion community and the pride he took in his work. He was an active school board member for Marion Independent School District since 2008 and was proud of his contributions to improve both education and facilities. Barney also served on the City of Marion plumbing board for over 20 years and was an original board member on Friends of Marion Parks.
